The first time I wrote about Rise ‘N Shine was on March 3rd of this year, as it was the one time I had a shot at getting into the place, as it’s quite popular. I had to try the shrimp and grits breakfast, although truthfully it seems they’ll make any meal on their menu at any time as long as they’re open. Whereas I found it pretty tasty, I should have asked for some changes to the meal, because it physically beat me up a couple of hours later.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Pancakes!

This time I went back for the other main choice I had in mind, and even though it kicked my behind, I never regretted buying it, consuming it, or sharing pictures of it with my Facebook friends. Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Pancakes, visual food love! For once, what the picture looked like on their menu looked exactly like it looked on the plate. If you don’t see it in person, it’s hard to believe just how big it is; try telling me this doesn’t look beautiful and epic, because I was in immediate love.

The only difference between what was sitting in front of me and what was indicated on the menu is that you can chose between one and five pancakes; ouch! Mine showed up with 3 pancakes, because I’d forgotten one could tell them how many you wanted, but I wanted 3 anyway. I took pictures of it, but unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to get me in the same picture; no matter, because I didn’t need to be in it anyway. 🙂

The first bite was heavenly… the second bite was heavenly… the third bite was… well, you get the drift. I think I sighed the first 7 or 8 times I put some of it in my mouth. At around 15 minutes I knew I wasn’t going to come close to eating all of it, so I asked for a container so I could bring what I still had left home.

Pre-container; still a lot

This is what it looked like when I knew I was done; maybe my eyes are faulty, but it almost looks like I didn’t eat all that much of it, does it? Truthfully, even though I was stuffed, I thought about after I put what was left into the container, I might think about licking the plate clean because it looked so creamy and delicious. Unfortunately, my body wasn’t having it, so I waited until the container came.

As you can see, not only did they bring me a container, but they brought me extra toppings, enough so I could spread it over the rest of what I was taking home; that stopped me from embarrassing myself by licking the plate… whew! 🙂

Two things happened as I got close to home. One, I was getting really groggy, and all I wanted to do was get into the house and take a nap. Two, the weather decided to help me sleep with thunder and high winds; Mother Nature was helping me to wait until much later to continue my meal quest.

I may have cravings that get in my way, but luckily I also had some common sense… because I’m also diabetic. A few hours after my nap, my glucose was still off the top. I ended up waiting until around 6:30 in the evening before I pulled out what I’d brought home, realized that trying to eat even half of it might put me in a coma, and instead cut off what might have been 20% of it, swirled on my toppings, put it in the microwave to melt those same toppings a bit, and when I pulled it out it still looked like it did earlier in the morning… and that’s all I hate, along with 3 glasses of water.

I know I’m going there again some day, but next time I’m going for something “regular”, which I know will be wonderful. If you live in the area and are ready for a challenge and a wonderful meal (they don’t only serve breakfast food), look them up online, check out their menu and give it a try!
